Fateh Sagar Lake

#1 of 12 things to do in Udaipur

The Fateh Sagar Lake, an example of Udaipur's grand royal beauty lies north-west to it. Among the four lakes which together give Udaipur the title of the City of Lakes, it is the second largest. Being artificial in nature, it was constructed in the 1680s. Set in the backdrop of the green Aravalli Hills, the blue waters of this lake provide a great contrast, subsequently gaining the ‘the second Kashmir’ title. The lake has tranquillity immersed within it. Sunsets and sunrises here are particularly beautiful.

The area of the lake is quite large and it has 3 islands as well. The largest of them all is called Nehru Park, which has a boat-shaped restaurant and a zoo within. The second is a public park, with an impressive water-jet fountain. The third island has the Udaipur Solar Observatory. It is considered to be one of the best in Asia because of its pragmatic location. It is accessible by inboard motor boats.

This beautiful lake is quite a hit among the locals as well as the tourists. It is very serene near the lake and people tend to find peace in its calm water. Some water activities are also available here like boating. One can also drive around the circumference of lake to have a full view.
