Udaipur is very very historical having seen many empires and emperors through the time. The most prominent of all has been the legend of Maharana Pratap. This primarily why it has n number of forts, temples, and artificial lakes. It was founded in 1558 by Maharana Udai Singh II of the Sisodia clan of Rajput when he shifted his capital from the city of Chittorgarh to Udaipur after Chittorgarh was besieged by Akbar.
Today Udaipur is almost a metropolis, given the demands of today's generations, but still, the historical monuments add value to the city as this is what people come for. It provides an escape from reality once in a while, and everybody deserves to have that opportunity!
How to reach
Udaipur is easily accessible via train, road, and air. Dabok Airport, also known as Maharana Pratap Airport is at a distance of 25km from the city center. It has a railway station which has direct trains to major cities in India. Udaipur is connected with Delhi, Jaipur, Agra, Bikaner, Jodhpur, Mumbai via major highways.
How to Reach by Flight
Dabok Airport, also known as Maharana Pratap Airport has daily flights from Mumbai and Delhi. Public buses are not available between airport and city center.
How to Reach by Train
Udaipur railway station is connected with major cities via direct trains. It has daily trains towards Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Agra, Delhi, Jaipur, Ajmer, Chittorgarh and Khajuraho.
How to Reach by Bus
Udaipur is connected by cities in Rajasthan by an efficient bus network. Buses operate between Udaipur and Jaipur (9 hours), Delhi (14 hours ), Mumbai (16 hours), Ahmedabad (6 hours). Buses are sometimes much faster than trains.
How to Reach by Road
Udaipur is connected by major highways from every side. It is 675km away from Delhi, 250km from Ahmedabad and 725km from Mumbai.
How to travel within
Udaipur city is better navigated on foot as the narrow roads make it difficult for vehicles. Uber and Ola have good network here.Autorickshaws are the cheapest mode of travel within the city and are easily available everywhere.
Living in Udaipur
Living in Udaipur could be a different experience altogether, which would compose of great food, exuberant colours, fine dining, great hangout places, great dining places, this beautiful city has it all.
The fooding culture is specially great if you are familiar to hostels. For them who have lived in a zostel, it also has is branches here.
Another great thing here is the totally delicious navratan korma, daa baati churma and all.
Being rich in culture, Udaipur also has several places where live shows are performed including those of folk songs and dances. It is am an amazing experience which everybody should have at least once in life.
