The territory involved by the present Tirap District is a piece of the north-eastern furthest point of India circumscribing Burma. It is the main District of Arunachal Pradesh on the southern bank of Brahmaputra, and in early occasions, it was the portal to India in the east. Set between the fields of the Brahmaputra on the west and the valley of the Irrawaddy on the east, this region saw the development of the people groups from the Patkai ranges from the days of Yore. Swarms of transitory clans of Mongoloids called Kirata in the old Indian sacred texts sailed to Assam through this region. It was in Assam and its neighbouring areas that these clans resided. Scholarly and ethnological sources show that the early influxes of the Mongoloid movement entered India in the East before 1000 B.C. at about a similar ancient time as the landing of the Aryans in the West. As no material demonstrates these developments and no antiquated settlements of the general population have been found, we can't, at the best of our present information, do minimal than faintly follow the course of innate movements that occurred in similarly later historical occasions of Tirap.
