Chamba is a town in the state of Himachal Pradesh. It is located in the Chamba district. The town has an elevation of 996 m and has a population of 19,933. The town was found in 920. The region is well known for its temples, palaces, handicrafts, textiles, and art and craft, known as Pahari paintings. The place also experiences two very popular fairs, locally known as jatras, the Suhi Mata Mela and the Minjar Mela. The devotional songs of the region is known as ‘Ainchali’ and the people are very keen and interested in the folk songs, folklores and dances. The main attractions of the place are monuments that were built before and after 1846, Champavati Temple, Lakshmi Narayan Temple, Chamunda Devi Temple, Akhand Chandi Palace, Chaugan, Church of Scotland and Bhuri Singh Museum.
