Somanathapura Temple is a highly acclaimed temptation in Talakad. Nominated for the world heritage site status of UNESCO the temple is amongst three Hoysala temples which have been nominated for the same. It was one of the leading and excellent portrayal of Hoysala architecture. It has an ancient structure impressed by its magnificence. Tourists from neighbouring and faraway places come to tour the temple to get a glimpse of the excellent carvings. The temple was built by the officer of King Narasimha III, Somanatha in the year 1268.
