Salugara Monastery

#2 of 9 things to do in Siliguri

An extravagant Buddhist shrine located on the outskirts of Siliguri, about 6 km from the city, is a perfect destination to embrace the culture color and history of the Place. A place to be to find the peace of mind, to meditate for as long as you please. The monumental100ft tall white stupa decorated with intricate details are stunning to the eye. This place was built by the Tibetan monks and followers of Dalai Lama as a Buddhist shrine and a meditation center under the guidance of the Tibetan Lama Kalu Rimpoche. The shrine is believed to be highly sacred for the presence of the five holy relics of Lord Buddha, whose sightings can bring salvation to the devotees. The golden ornamentation and the terraced roofs topped by an ogee dome and all the religious customs taking place within the shrine can be a handful of experience to all the visitors.
