Coronation Bridge

#0 of 9 things to do in Siliguri

An engineering masterpiece left behind from the colonial period and named after the coronation of King George IV and Queen Elizabeth in 1937. The Coronation Bridge spans across the Teesta river in a picturesque valley surrounded by lush green mountains. This bridge connects Darjeeling to Jalpaiguri by the National Highway 31 passing through it. The structure of the bridge is also intriguing; the depth and force of the Teesta river restrict the possibility of a direct support, so inspired from the Roman bridges, an arch was constructed across the river as the main support system. Located 20 km from the city this is an ideal place for tourists and nature lovers. the calm wind, wild monkeys, various birds chirping in the mountains and the blue water that runs beneath the bridge makes it a striking experience in the midst of nature.
