Shillong has several museums showcasing the rich history and culture of the Northeast India.

Entomological Museum (Butterfly Museum)

A privately-owned museum of M/s Wankhar, Riatsamthiah, Shillong at a distance of about 2km from Police Bazar houses an extensive collection of vibrant butterflies, moths, and other insects. Being one of the most popular tourist attractions of the city, the museum also cultivates butterflies for commercial purposes.

Chrysalis the Gallery

Located in the East Khasi Hills district, the Chrysalis Gallery is an art gallery situated on the second floor of Salonsar Mansion at Police Bazar. The gallery has flexible display walls to exhibit painting, photographs and sculptures. Run by a local artist, Jaya Kalra, the gallery conducts exhibitions of local artists as well as artist from all over the country.

Ever Living Museum

Situated in Mawshbuit village in Shillong, at a distance of 9 kms from the city centre, the Ever Living Museum is a privately owned museum. The museum is divided into 3 sections, of which the first one houses contemporary and ancient weapons used by the Meghalayan tribesmen, the second one displays the bamboo handicrafts items and the third is a beautiful lawn of orchids & wildflowers. The museum is a living testimony of one’s love for nature, history, tradition and culture.
