Digha Beach

#1 of 3 things to do in Shankarpur

Digha is a one-stop destination for families looking forward to a wonderful weekend. It has undoubtedly one of the best views of sunset among the other beaches all over West Bengal. Unlike Shankarpur, the Digha beach at a distance of 14 kilometres from it, is overcrowded with tourists mostly all over the year, with February to April being the peak season as spring brings in the most number of tourists. This resort town facing the Bay of Bengal has several inetresting places you can visit, like the Marine Aquarium and Research Centre (MARC) established in the year 1989, focusing mainly on exhibiting the biodiversity of the region, also being home to sharks, rays and sea snakes and the famous century old Temple of Lord Shiva at Chandaneswar. To the west of this coastal town, inland from sandy New Digha Sea Beach, leafy Amarabati Park surrounds a lake. One can easily travel to Digha from Shankarpur via trekkers, taxis, autos, toto, van-rickshaws, rental cars or buses.
