Challenge yourself at the adventurous Savandurga
Savandurga is a hill situated in the state of Karnataka. It is located in the Ramnagara district and is at a distance of around 60 km from the city of Bangalore. It is a part of the Deccan plateau and is one of the largest monolith hills in Asia. The Arkavathi River passes nearby through the Thippagondanahalli reservoir. Savandurga has two hills, Black Hill, locally known as Karigudda, and White hill, locally known as Biligudda. The area is also known for its megalithic settlements. There are certain kinds of endangered species like yellow-throated bulbuls, long-billed vultures and white-bucked vultures are also found in the hills. Sloth bear and leopards are also found in the hills. There is also a forest surrounding the area which has 59 tree and 119 shrub species. Savandurga is also considered as a pilgrimage destination. The Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple and Savandi Veerabhadreshwara Swamy Temple are located at the foothills of Savandurga. There are certain other attractions of the place like Thippagondanahalli Reservoir, Manchinbele Dam, which was built across Arkavathi River for the purpose of irrigation, and Sayyed Ghulam Qadri’s Tomb. The place is frequently visited by pilgrims, rock climbers, cave explorers and adventurers as well as trekkers. The place is also a popular picnic spot as it provides a beautiful view of the greenery and the Magadi town.
There are no lodging facilities at the place as of yet. However there are certain adventure clubs like Nature Admire, Capture, Care and many more who provide camps for trekker at this place and also provide with food and transport. They also encourage the trekkers to engage in activities like Rappelling, Zip Line, Kayaking, Camp Fire, Vine Traversing etc.

Savandurga does not have an airport or a railway station of its own. However the place is well connected with other nearby cities through roadways.
How to Reach by Flight
Savandurga does not have an airport of its own. The nearest airport is the Bangalore International Airport which is located at a distance of around 60 km from the hills. There are taxi and bus services available outside the airport to reach Savandurga.
How to Reach by Train
The place does not have a railway station of its own. The nearest station is Magadi Railway Station, which is located at a distance of around 15 km from the place. It takes around 30 minutes to reach Savandurga from Magadi.
How to Reach by Bus
There are state-run buses as well as those owned by the private agencies that travel to and fro from the place; however the frequency of these buses is less.
How to Reach by Road
The place is well connected to the nearby cities due to its roadways. People can use their own vehicles or take the bus from Bangalore city or from the city of Mysore to reach this place.
How to travel within
People can explore the place and visit from one destination to the other by walking or travel in their own private cars.
There are no shops present for shopping except for the basic things like food and water. There are no souvenir shops in this place.
There are no major hotels in the area. However certain basic things like biscuits, tea and other basic food is available. There is a small restaurant located at a distance of around 3 km from the hill which serves thatte idli and other South Indian dishes. There are certain vendors who sell coconut water and fruit juices to quench ones thirst.
