Gita Bhawan

#3 of 9 things to do in Rishikesh

Located in the foothills of Himalayas, on the banks of River Ganga in Swargashram, Geetha Bhawan is one of the most beautiful spiritual places to visit while in Rishikesh. The ashram is known for the ancient Hindu literature. The Geeta Bhawan is visited by a large number of pilgrims each year, to take a dip in the holy waters of the Ganges, listen to the discourses and meditate. The ancient Banyan tree located inside the complex is where renowned saints like Swami Ramtirth practised penance under this huge tree years many years ago. The tree and the surrounding silent woods with two well-built bathing ghats make it a perfect place for meditation and rejuvenation.

One of the most famous attractions of the Geeta Bhawan is the Laxmi Narayan Temple, which beautifully narrates the story of Lord Krishna through elaborate pictures.
