Ratanwadi is a tiny hamlet in Ahmednagar district, in the state of Maharashtra, India. A residence of not more than 30-40 petite houses spread over the mountains. A brook dawning from the hills of Ratangad runs by the end of the village. A check dam on the river and excellent sceneries of Kalsubai peak, makes this place seem like a fairytale. The Kalsubai peak in Maharashtra that is home to the legendary Ratangad fort and the famous Shiva temple named Amruteshwar. Ratangad is a 2000-year-old fort, seized by Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in his era. It is located in Ratanwadi which is it's a home village and faces the Bhandardara. The enchanting temple of Amruteshwar cut out of stone is devoted to Lord Shiva. It is one of the 12 Shiva temples constructed in 900AD by King Jhang. It is also a well-known trekking point as it is considerably far away from the principal settlement and has a picturesque grace attached to it. Being a part of the glorious state of Maharashtra, Ratangad is also bestowed with an impressive history. The fort of Ratangad dates back to 400 years. Ratangad was seized by Chhatrapati Shivaji Raje Bhosle during his reign. Chhatrapati Shivaji Raje Bhosle was an Indian knight leader and a member of Bhosle Maratha clan, The natural rock formation which is 10 feet high and 60 feet which occurred due to wind erosion at the head is recognised as 'Nedhe' or 'the eye of the needle'. Other attractions in Ratanwadi include the Amruteshwar temple, renowned for its engravings,  which date back to the Hemantpad Period approximately from the 8th century. The fortification is the foundation for the river Pravara/Amrutvahini.
