#11 of 23 things to do in Pune

Submerged in the love and devotion this place is a perfect spot to witness the spirit of true love. The place once used to be the residence of Bajirao and Kashi, currently, it serves as the most famous traveller destinations in Maharashtra. This magnificent villa was constructed by the Peshwa Bajirao I himself as the home of the Peshwas. Embracing a widespread domain of approximately 625 acres, the castle is an excellent spot to catch an impression of India's vibrant chronicle. The spot never displeases the visitants, with its multiple fortresses and springs, the dignified statue of Baji Rao I that welcomes the guest at the arrival sways the travellers to the older days. However, such was the destiny of this luxurious building that it is presently the most haunted spots of Pune. The palace which was composed of surpassing passion and emotion to depose praiseworthy anecdotes of the Peshwas wistfully witnessed nothing but deception, agony and suffering. In the very first year of its completion, the mansion witnessed an unfortunate demise of Peshwa Bajirao I, his unfaithfulness to his first wife Kashi, and the incomplete love story of Bajirao-Mastani. The palace also showcases a beautiful light show which is breathtaking.
