Naked to the Britisher’s eye during the colonisation period, Parwanoo was a small mountain hamlet which rested in its calm surroundings. But the period of post-colonization proved to be a benefactor for the town as its gain momentum through the active industrialization on small and even large scale. It gave way to various industries and make it an industrial centre despite being in an isolated location. The place knows its strengths of undeniable beauty and hence cast a magic spell on this lovely village, turning it upside down thereby transgress it into a popular destination to visit during holidays.

 

Places nearby

Though the village of Parwanoo is in itself a self-sufficient place yet if you plan to stay there a little bit longer, there is no harm in exploring the nearby villages as well. A good explorer is one who looks for something beyond the destined destination.

Some places to look for are

Dagshai: The place is an epitome of historical past as it is the British cantonment area. The spot is also known for the ancient church built up there and marked by the experience of the rich heritage of India.

Renuka Lake: The lake is situated in the Sirmur district and marked as the largest natural lake in Himachal Pradesh which spreads over to 3214m. It is known to be an embodiment of Goddess Renuka and due to holiness attached to it many more temples are built around it which dates back in 18th century.

 

Subathu: The cantonment area of the town of Parwanoo which is located within the dense forest, 4500ft. Above sea level is a spot loved by the backpackers as it is a suitable area for trekking and now a remarkable tourist attraction.

How to reach

Parwanoo is a humble hill station with a population of approximately 9000 people and hence due to its small geographical location, it does not have its own airport or railway station. But there are bus services and taxi services available, also there are nearby airports of Chandigarh and Shimla respectively. 

How to Reach by Flight

The village does not have its own airport and hence the nearby airport is of Chandigarh and Shimla at the proximity of 30km and 70km respectively. From there you could travel by taxi or a personal car. 

How to Reach by Train

The nearest railway station to Parwanoo is of Kalka with the distance of 4km from Parwanoo. The railway station is well connected with the major cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata. From the station, you could travel by car to the location. 

How to Reach by Bus

Bus services are very much convenient commute facility to reach Parwanoo. The neighbouring cities like Chandigarh, Ambala, Shimla have direct routes from there to Parwanoo. 

How to Reach by Road

Travel by road is the most likeable options from nearby places. A car by yourself or a hired cab works best during weekends. It gives the pure weekend getaway vibes and will swing the mood into ecstasy. Availing a taxi from nearby stops or airports are the best option for transportation. 

How to travel within

The small location has many facilities to hire a taxi for the whole day around and enjoy the trip without any hassle. It is the best intra-city commute facility provided to the tourists. 

Parwanoo Itinerary

Parwanoo is ideally suited for a one day visit excluding your travel time. A good day begins with a good meal. Having your breakfast done you could start your visit to the beautiful town of Parwanoo. First, take a walk around the area of the village taking in the vibe of the place and then head towards the peaceful temples of Shri Balaji and Kali Mata. Second, explore Pinjore from where you could take the view of the orchards and other flowers in full bloom. The place is famous for its orchards.  After enjoying the beauty of place take a break, have your lunch and explore the rich heritage at Gorkha fort and get an insight into the past of this village. In the evening visit, the Timber trail for a cable car ride or you could visit the cactus garden. The end would be great after having a scrumptious dinner there thereby completing the trip on a good note.
