Panchgani is a beautiful hill station that falls under Satara district in Maharashtra, India. Panchgani that literally means five hills was derived from the five mountains of Sahyadri mountain range. Panchgani was found during the reign of British Raj, who then sent Lord John Chesson to find a summer and retirement relief place for their officials. Although Mahabaleshwar was first decided to be the destination, it was canceled due to its inhabitation, later on, John Chesson founded this area that was surrounded by five villages in the Sahyadri Mountain Range, and named it Panchgani. The locals of the hill station consider John Chesson to be the founder of this breathtaking place. The locals of Panchgani are simple living, hospitable, agricultural people, the main languages you will find practicing there are Marathi, Hindi, and English. Falling in Maharashtra State, the town celebrates every Hindu Festival, though the major can be called as Ganesh Chaturthi. Famous for its strawberry plantation, during the month of March, the town can be seen celebrating the Annual Strawberry Festival that attracts a horde of local and tourist coming at the time.
