Ooty Botanical Garden is located in a town called Vannarpettai, it is divided into several sections.The garden has a variety of tree and plant species including a fossilled tree which is said be 20 million years old. It covers an area of about 55 hectares and is resting on lower slopes of the Doodabetta peak.In the summer,there's a flower show hosted by Horticulture department at this garden.The garden is really famous among the tourists and visitors for flower exhibition,toda tribe, photography, sight seeing and nature conservation.The garden was established in 1897 by Marquis Of Tweedale and is now in the jurisdiction of the Tamil Nadu State Government. Interesting fact about the Italian Garden section is that it was built by the Italian war prisoners of the first world war. Entrance fee of this garden is 30-/ INR and the garden is open to all from 7:00 AM to 6:30 PM.
