Nelliyampathy Tourism

Nelliyampathy is an unexplored hill station in Palakkad district of Kerala. Nelliyampathy is famous for its unexplored lush green forest, orange gardens, and coffee plantations. The altitude varies from 450m to 1500m. It is also known as Poor Man's Ooty.Nelliyampathy can be visited throughout the year but its ideal to visit right after the monsoon.


There are restaurants in Pulayampara and Kaikatty which serve South Indian food.

Nelliyampathy is yet to be developed as a major tourist destination. There are a few resorts, hotels and homestays.

How to reach

Nelliyampathy is well connected to major cities in India via Palakkad. Palakkad is 60km away from Coimbatore Airport, 100km from Calicut airport. Olavakkod railway station is connected with major cities in India, it lies on Coimbatore - Kerala rail route.

How to Reach by Flight

The nearest airport is Coimbatore (CJB) which is in Tamil Nadu. Coimbatore airport is at a distance of 60km from Nelliyampathy. Calicut (CCJ) airport is at a distance of 120km (3 hours). Both airports are connected to major cities in India, Calicut airport is well connected with the middle east.

How to Reach by Train

Palakkad (Olavakkod) is the nearest railway station which is at a distance of 60km. Shornur is another major railway station which is at a distance of 80km, if you are traveling from Kerala, the number of trains to Shornur will be more.

How to Reach by Bus

Kerala RTC operates regular services from Trichur, Kochi, Palakkad, and Calicut to Nelliyampathy. Interstate buses towards Tamil Nadu passes through Nenmara which is close to Nelliyampathy.

How to Reach by Road

Nelliyampathy is 60km from Palakkad, 110km from Coimbatore, 150km from Kochi.All these cities are well connected with other cities via National Highways.

Safety Tips

Carry table salt as leaches are quite common in hilly areas.

Avoid trekking in the early morning as the wild animals can be there.
