Panagal (Panagallu)

#1 of 11 things to do in Nalgonda

Located roughly 3 km from the main city of Nalgonda, Panagal is another such village that is known for the sacred reason of religion. Built by the Ikshkavu dynasty that ruled at that time, the temple is believed to have a shadow on the Shiva Linga at all times of the day at the Chaya Someswara Swami temple. This temple is a spectacle of beauty and an epitome of art.

Chaya, which translates to shadow, suggests the reason for naming the temple and is attributed to the mystical belief that people associate with the temple. This temple is a result of the engineering feat of the Cholas whose result is much appreciated by anyone who visits here. It gives a peek into their creative ability and a natural flair for architectural aesthetics as is visible from the structure.

Temple timing:

  • 6 am to 12 am
  • 2 pm to 8 pm
