Gracing the banks of Krishna river is this quaint yet religiously relevant village of Nandikonda, located very close to the Nagarjuna Sagar Dam. This village became a famous household name when prominent structures of the Buddhist practice like monasteries and pillared halls were unearthed from this destination. Nandikonda has also traced its associations back to Ikshvaku dynasty with ruins of forts also being discovered here. During the archeological excavations that took place, there was even presence of trenches, fortification walls, rectangular stadiums and many such relics that connected the dots back to the past. It is an awakening feeling to be in the premise and walk around exploring the past with its features frozen in time.
