Mattapalli

#3 of 11 things to do in Nalgonda

It is a small village that sits on the banks of Krishna river and is renowned for the Yoga Narasimha Swami temple. It stands as a spectacular example of the ancient temples of Telangana and houses Lord Narasimha Vishnu, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu who is the presiding deity. Much like many of the other temples in Telangana, this temple is also housed within a cave. The Sanctum Sanctorum is accessed by a narrow passageway that gives a sense of humility and excitement as one goes in. The temple features some of the finest rock sculptures with intricately carved motifs on the doors.

Graciously located at the banks of the river, the temple marks a pathway to access the river by a flight of stairs. The whole temple premises gets life during the Vaikunta Ekadasi festival time, which is celebrated with much galore for its auspicious relevance.
