Bhuvanagiri Fort

#0 of 11 things to do in Nalgonda

Bhuvanagiri fort, also known as Bhongir fort is one of the hidden treasures of Nalgonda. This deceptively massive fort dates back its conception to the tenth century period of the mighty Chalukyan rulers. This fort is secured by two humungous rocks at the two points of entrance to the fort, thus establishing the very essence of the structure to the core. It is easily identified as a landmark not only due to its location at the very center of the city but also owing to its sheer scale, glimpses of which can be captured as one approaches the fort. The initial climb to the fort can prove to be a little task but it does not tire you. Also, once you reach the peak, the sweat and effort taken will pay off with a brilliant view overlooking Nalgonda. You can spot the magnificent boundary wall, now ruined at many places, sporting canons even today. The fort itself is a museum of architecture at its finest rendition. Even though it remains destroyed at various places, the rustic essence of its past paired with the deep hues as a backdrop is a sight to cherish!

During your climb up, you can enjoy the sprinkles of grassy patches and breathe in the fresh air, much of which is devoid in today's city lifestyle. It is an experience that is sure to refresh your mind and embrace the breezy countryside.

Things to keep in mind:

Carry sufficient water for your climb up. There is no facility that provided drinking water either on the way or on top.
