Nagpur is the third largest city and the 13th most populous city of India. It is also the winter capital of the state of Maharashtra. The city is the fifth fastest growing city in the world according to the Oxford Economics report. It is one of the Smart Cities of Maharashtra. The city is the second capital of Maharashtra after Mumbai. It is a metropolitan city and is known by other names like The Orange City, as it is a major trade centre for oranges, Heart of India, as it is located in the central part of the country, and Tiger capital of India. The city was initially known as Fanindrapura, as fana means the hood of a cobra. However since the river “nag” follows through the city, the British named the city as “Nagpur”. It was founded in 1702 by the Gond King Bakht Buland Shah. Nagpur is also popular for deekshabhoomi, which is the largest hollow stupa among all the Buddhist stupas in the world. The summers in the city are extremely hot, whereas the winters are considerably pleasant. There are several lakes in the city which includes Khindsi Lake, Ambazari lake and garden, Futala Lake, Shukrawari Lake and Gorewada lake. There are wildlife sanctuaries like Umred Karhandla Wildlife Sanctuary, Maharajbagh Zoo, Gorewada Zoo and Tadoba National Park. The place also has religious significance which includes Ramtek fort Temple, RamDham, Adasa ganpati Temple, Jain Mandir Ramtek, Dragon Palace Buddhist Temple, Sai Baba Temple and Shree Ganesh Mandir Tekdi and many more. There is also a Toy Train Museum, High Land Park, Fun N Food Village and Raman Science Centre. Nagpur is also popular for good quality cotton and clothes made of silk.

The traditional food is known as Varhadi cuisine or Saoji cuisine. How to reach
Nagpur, being one of the major cities in Maharashtra, has proper connectivity to other places by road, railway and flights. The place is also known as the ‘Zero Milestone’ and is located in the central part of Indi and so it is not far from any other place in the country.
How to Reach by Flight
Nagpur has its own airport known as Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport, which is located at a distance of around 8 km from the main city. The airport helps to connect the city to other major cities in India as well as to places outside India.
How to Reach by Train
Nagpur has its own railway station known as the Nagpur Junction railway station which has regular rail services and connects the place to the other places of the country.
How to Reach by Bus
State-run buses as well as those owned by the private agencies are present that helps them to travel to Nagpur from places like Mumbai, Pune, Panjim etc. There are buses available at affordable rates and slightly expensive buses are also available for travelling. Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation provides buses. The main bus stations are Nagpur Bus Sthanak and MorBhawan.
How to Reach by Road
Nagpur is pretty well connected by roads to major cities. NH7, NH7 and NH9 connect Nagpur with other major roadways. The distance between Nagpur and Mumbai is around 820 km, from Delhi it is around 1040 km and from Bhopal is it around 351 km.
How to travel within
There are autos, buses and taxis that can be availed by people to move from one place to the other within the cities. Buses are the most convenient mode of transport. People who love walking can also walk from one place to the other.
Festivals
There are several festivals that are celebrated in the city of Nagpur. Ram Navami is celebrated with shobha yatra in the city. Dhamma Chakra Pravartan Din, Vijayadashami, Eid E Milad, Guru Nanak Jayanti, Mahavir Jayanti, Durga Puja, Ganesh Chaturthi, Diwali, Holi, Christmas and Moharram are also celebrated with equal zeal and enthusiasm in the city. There are several south Indian temples where the South Indian festivals are celebrated like Sitarama Kalyanam, Radha Kalyanam Dhanurmasa, Andal Kalyanam and many more festivals are also celebrated in the city. Marbat, Pola, Ganesh Utsav, Ramjanam, Nag Panchami and Gudhi Padwa are also among the popular festivals in Nagpur.
Nagpur Itinerary
Day 1- After reaching Nagpur airport proceed towards the hotel. After breakfast leave for Ambazari Lake, Bohra Masjid and Futala Lake.
Day 2- After breakfast leave for Khindsi Lake, Ramtek Fort Temple, Lake garden Sakkardara and then go for city shopping.
Day 3- After breakfast leave for Lata Mangeshkar Musical Garden, Maharaj Bagh and Zoo, Raman Science centre and then go for city shopping.
Day 4- After breakfast leave for Shukrawari Lake and visit the other places of sightseeing.
