Naggar is an old hamlet situated in Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh, India. Read moreAmidst the breathtaking hills encompassed by forests, the Naggar Castle is a brilliant ancient building which is composed of stone and wood. The castle was once the residence of Raja Sidh Singh of Kullu. Constructed in AD 1460, the castle is an extraordinary blend of European and Himalayan style of architecture. Adorned with beautiful fireplaces, fitting staircases, and luxurious stone and wood works bless the castle's galleries. In the year 1978, the castle was transformed into a rest house, and more latterly into a heritage hotel that is administered by Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC). The religious Beas River springs near to the castle, supplementing majesty and sacredness to it.
There is no airport or railway station in Naggar. Travelling by roadways in the best option.
The closest airport is Kullu-Manali Airport at Bhuntar, from here one can take a taxi or a cab to reach the destination.
The nearest railway station is located at Joginder Nagar. One can easily reach Naggar by first reaching Manali and then taking a cab or taxi from there.
Travelling by bus is the best option to reach Naggar. Various HRTC or private bus services operate in the region to reach Manali. Manali and Naggar are hardly 21 km away from each other. One can rent a taxi to cover the rest of the distance.

FOOD: The food menu in Naggar is not very fancy and your choices can get a little confined. One can discover many tiny eating joints here which serve Himachali and North Indian cuisine. If you're looking for more diversity in the cuisine, then you can also travel to popular destinations nearby.
STAY: Naggar is a flourishing tourist destination and thus, various hotels and lodges are available at the pace to accommodate the travellers. Hotels like Orchid nest Cottage, Naggarville, Hotel Sheetal etc offer a luxurious stay. There are many lodges and cheap hotels available as well.
AVAILABILITY OF ATMs: SBI, PNB, UCO Bank, Bank of India, Bank of Baroda, ICICI Bank are available in the town. It is advisable to carry some cash beforehand.
ONE DAY ITINERARY
Kick start the morning by visiting the breathtakingly beautiful Naggar castle. After spending some time at the castle, head towards the Dagpo Shedrupling Monastery. Later in the evening spend some time at the Uruswati Folk art museum. In the evening go for trekking and camping the thick woods. Leave for respective homes the next morning.
