Murud Janjira Tourism

Known for beautiful beaches and majestic forts, Murud is a picturesque destination in Raigad district of Maharashtra. With its pristine landscape, soothing beaches, Murud is an excellent destination for relaxed vacations along beautiful sandy beaches. Apart from the beaches, Murud is famous for the magnificent Murud Janjira Fort, Kasa Fort, and Gol Gumbaz. Situated on an oval-shaped rock in the Arabian sea, 165 kms from Mumbai, the fort of Murud is located near to the Murud port. The boat ride to the port is yet another thrilling and engaging experience. The nearby hills of Murud-Janjira are home to a beautiful shrine dedicated to Lord Dattatreya. This shrine with the heads of Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva on a hillock is another major tourist attraction. While in Jinjara, you could peer through the gates of the off-limits Ahmedganj Palace, the estate of the Siddi Nawab of Murud, or scramble around the decaying mosque and tombs on the south side of town. Apart from all these attractions, the traditional Marati cuisine of this place is to die for. The relaxed seaside life, with beautiful majestic forts and temple, a visit to Murud makes your vacation worthwhile.
