The magnificent hill station tucked into the beautiful Aravalli Ranges in Rajasthan, Mount Abu is an oasis amidst the arid desert. Located at a distance of 80 kms from Sirohi village in Rajasthan the mountain forms a distinct rocky plateau. The highest peak in the mountain, Guru Shikhar, is at an altitude of 1722m above the sea level. This is the only hill station in Rajasthan surrounded by lush green forests of pine and deodar, home to beautiful lakes and rivers, Mount Abu is often referred to as ‘Shimla of Rajasthan’.

Mount Abu is a popular tourist destination, an escape from the scorching sun and heat of Rajasthan. The mountain is home to exquisite Dilwara Temples, one of the most stunning pieces of architecture in the country. How to reach

Mount Abu can be accessed by rail and road easily. You can also fly into Udaipur and drive from there to Mount Abu.

How to Reach by Flight

The nearest airport is Udaipur at a distance of 185 km, But Ahmedabad is having better connectivity and daily flights with other parts of the country

How to Reach by Train

Abu Road is the nearest railway station just 28 KM from the main city, Which is very well connected by rail routes to New Delhi, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, and Mumbai.

How to Reach by Bus

Many government-run (Rajasthan State Transport Corporation) buses operate from nearby cities to Mount Abu. In addition to a number of state transport buses, many private buses ply regularly to this hill station. You can opt for deluxe, semi-deluxe and air-conditioned buses from Jaipur and Abu Road.

How to Reach by Road

Mount Abu is well connected by road with major cities of the country, nearest national highway no. 14 is just 24 kms.

How to travel within

Tour can be done in a jeep or a car or Bus. It is a small town to walk around. You will find transportation for sightseeing at the parking of Nakki lake. - For local sightseeing's in Mount Abu, you can hire a Car which cost you Rs. 800 to Rs. 1000/-. - You can also hire autorickshaws which will cost you around 400/- to 500/- - You can also hire bikes there for Rs.250/- to Rs 350/- - There are Bus tour in morning and afternoon called Abu darshan.

Local Cuisine

Mount Abu’s cuisine is not too different than Rajasthani cuisine. The best way to try local cuisine is to try Rajasthani Thali. the top spices to taste here are garlic, mint, turmeric, coriander and others.  The most traditional dish to try is Dal Bati Churma. Other dishes to try are googri, chaavadi, besan chakki, bail gate and paapasi. An absolutely must try is pyaaz pakoda, prepared by deep frying onions that are soaked in batter of gram flour.

When it comes to dessert, the place is famous for milk and milk products. Ghewar is a top dish to try out here.  The most common beverage is sweetened churned curd or lassi. The best variety of lassi to try here is Makhaniya lassi made with yogurt, sugar, homemade cream, cashew, pistachios and saffron. Other beverages to try out here are aam panna, bael juice, thadi, chacch and others.
