Timings: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM

Entry Fee: Free

At a distance of 22km from Mathura, the Govardhan Hills have a mention in the Bhagawat Gita. It is said that Lord Krishna had once said that Govardhan Hill is very similar to him. Thus, his devotees often go to the hill and offer prayers to the rocks of the hill just like they do for the idol. It has a circumference of 38 km and is 80 ft tall. It is made up of sandstone. Mansi Ganga, Mukharvind, and Daan Ghat are three of the other interesting places to visit in these hills. It is said that Lord Krishna lifted the Govardhan Hill during his childhood on one finger to save his village of Mathura from fierce rains and thunderstorm. Thus, during Govardhan Puja, devotees walk  23 km barefoot around the hill. After Lord Krishna had saved his village, he told everyone to worship the hill and thus Govardhan Puja is right after Diwali.
