Maravanthe Tourism

Maravanthe is a village and has a beach and is located in Karnataka. It is locted in the Udupi district. While crossing The National Highway (NH17) that passes from a very close distance, the Arabian Sea can be seen on one side and the Sauparnika River with with Kodachadri Hills forming the backdrop can be seen on the other side. Fishing is the main activity of the people of this place; however the economy is not very flourished because the infrastructure for marketing and the produce is not well developed. Agriculture is another main source of economy of this place. White sand is found for several miles in the beach of Maravanthe and thus it has been given a nickname of Virgin Beach. During the summer, the place experiences scorching heat and very high temperatures. During winter it has a very pleasant weather and is the best time of be visited. There are also two villages named Trasi and Padukone. The different places to visit apart from the beach and the two villages are Kodachadri Hills, Kodi Beach, Ottinere, a getaway to enjoy the beautiful sunset, Bijadi, another village located in the vicinity, St Mary’s Island, Anegudde Vinayaka Temple and Siddi Vinayak Temple. People can also engage in Boating cruise at River Sauparnika.

Food

The most popular dishes of the place are Bisi bela bath, Vaangi baath, Chitranna, Mosaranna, Avalakki, Mandakki, Dosas, Ragi rotti, Jolada rotti, Ragi rotti, Hurali Chutney, Kaayi chutney, Kadalekaayi chutney, Maavina chutney etc. Kosambari is a kind of salad common to the state. Huggi, Ginnu, Kajjaya, Kadabu, Unde, Haalubaayi, Mysore pak, Damrottu are the common sweets of the place.  Chakkuli, Pakoda, Vadey, Nippattu, Kodubale, Nuchchina Unde are the snacks available in the state of Karnataka.

Maravanthe does not have an airport of its own. The nearest airport is the one located at Mangalore, which is at a distance of around 90 km. However the nearest international airport is the one located at Bangalore. There re taxi and bus services available outside the airport. 

How to Reach by Train

Maravanthe does not have a railway station of its own. The nearest railway station is the one located at Mangalore, the Mangalore Junction, located at a distance of around   km. There are taxi and bus services available outside the railway to reach the beach town of Maravanthe.

How to Reach by Bus

There are state-run buses as well as those owned by the private agencies that connect the place to other major cities of Karnataka like Bangalore, Mangalore, Udupi and Gokarna. 

How to Reach by Road

The place is well connected to other place by the roadways. It is located at a distance of around 450 km from Bangalore, around 130 km from Gokarna, around 275 km from Goa, around 110 km from Mangalore and around 50 km from Udupi.

How to travel within

Taxis are available for going from one place to the other. Walking or strolling on the beach is also a very good option.

Stay

There are not many options for staying at this place. However there are few hotels like Sunlight Beach Resort, Sagar Kinara Beach Resort, and Turtle Bay Beach Resort etc.

Shopping                 

There are no shopping places at the place, though there are several restaurants and the food is not expensive.

Maravanthe Itinerary

Day 1-After reaching the Mangalore Airport proceed towards Maravanthe. On reaching the beach town, visit the Anegudde Vinayaka Temple, Kodi Beach and then go for shopping.

Day 2- After breakfast leave for Kodachadri Hills and Trekking.

Day 3- After breakfast leave for Padukone, Siddi Vinayak Temple and Maravanthe Beach.
