Established by an Ahom ruler, Sultanla, this Satra located at 18 kms from Majuli is considered as an epicentre of Satriaya and Vaishnavism culture in Assam. This famous Satra has got twelve branches in several parts of the state and the main branch is located at North Guwahati. The main prayer of this Satra starts in the morning and continues till the evenings. Apart from carrying out the daily activities, the Satra is engaged in many activities like Satraiaya dances and songs. Known for two types of dance forms, Paalnam and Apsara, one can have a great time experiencing these dance forms. This Satra also houses many jewellery, old utensils and handicraft items that depict the tradition of ancient Assam. Many cultural programs and festivals like Bohag Bihu, Janmashtami, Holi, Kati Bihu, Paal naam are celebrated with great enthusiasm here.
