Wanla Gompa

#0 of 4 things to do in Lamayuru

Wanla is a small monastery that serves as the subdivision for Lamayuru Monastery, situated in the top of Wanla Village, flanked by two shattered towers of the 14th Century fortress. The Wanla Gompa is under a caretaker monk who is responsible for granting access to the temple and daily rituals. The carved porch is an influence from Alchi’s famous Choskhor Temple and the chamber contains three large statues that are adorned in back by intricate murals.
