Bangaram Island

#2 of 11 things to do in Lakshadweep

The least explored lands on the Lakshadweep group, the Bangaram marine life is littered with colourful fish, stingrays, dolphins, turtles and coral reefs. The bright, vibrant variety of marine life here makes Bangaram a paradise for scuba diving enthusiasts. Beautifully shaped like a teardrop, Bangaram is one of the largest islands on the archipelago and is the only uninhabited island open to tourists. With a luxury island resort built on this beautifully secluded island, the only inhabitants here are the resort workers. Bangaram is also the only island on the Lakshadweep to permit and serve alcohol and is open to foreigners as well.

Completely secluded from civilisation, Bangaram exudes a romantic atmosphere, especially during the night. Phosphorescent planktons wash up on the beaches in the night, exhibiting a beautifully serene blue light throughout the beach. The island is accessible by boat or helicopter from the Agatti island.
