Mantralayam is a sacred town arranged 74 km from Kurnool region in Andhra Pradesh and 250 km from its state capital, Hyderabad. It is situated close to the fringe of Karnataka and on the banks of the waterway Tungabhadra. Mantralayam is known for Sri Guru Raghavendra Swami, a holy person who went into a samadhi alive before his supporters in Seventeenth Century. He was a Madhwa holy person who is viewed as a rebirth of Prahlada which is a daitya ruler who was spared by Lord Vishnu's Narasimha symbol.
