The Great Himalayan National Park

#11 of 17 things to do in Kullu

The Great Himalayan National Park is undoubtedly the most beautiful national park of India, having an altitude between 1500 to 6000m. This range of altitude itself explains how diverse the park is, having multiple terrain types, multiple eco-culture and a very large variety of flora and fauna. This UNESCO World Heritage Site was established in the year 1984 and boasts of having four extremely beautiful valleys named-

  • Sainj Valley
  • Tirthan Valley
  • Jiwa Nal Valley
  • Parvati Valley

It received the status of a national park in 1999. It has around 375 species of fauna, 31 species of mammals and 181 species of birds.

The cultural beauty of this place is that almost all four valleys have a very different set of beliefs and even have different deities.
