Manikaran

#3 of 17 things to do in Kullu

Manikaran is the land of hot springs, along with being a sacred Sikh and Hindu pilgrimage destination. A lot of people every year turn up annually to visit Manikaran to witness the magic it is. It's located in the Parvati Valley along the banks of the river Parvati in the Kullu District of Himachal Pradesh. There is a defining religious aura around Manikaran, which can be strongly felt.

Both Hindus and Sikhs considered this place very holy. Hindus believe that Lord Shiva and his wife Goddess Parvati stayed here for 1100 years, hence making it a very religious place. And according to Sikhs, this is the land of miracles referring to the number of works done here by Guru Nanak Ji. Overall, it is very beautiful to see how both the religions respect each other and the beauty with both co-exist here. every tourist, no matter Hindu or Sikh, visit both, the temple and the Gurudwara.

Another interesting thing is the presence of hot springs, over which devotees cook some food like potatoes and rice and consider it to be 'prasad', this gives a reasonable idea of how hot the water must be in the springs.
