Kovalam is a town in the state of Kerala. It falls in the Thiruvananthapuram metropolitan area. The term Kovalam means a groove of coconut trees. The village actually is filled with a whole lot of coconut trees. The place has three beaches, which are the main attractions of the place, Lighthouse Beach, Hawah Beach and Samudra Beach. Apart from the beaches, Kovalam also has other places to be visited like Karamana River, Vellayani Lake, Halcyon Castle, Kovalam Art Gallery, Valiyathura Pier, Neyyar Dam, Aruvikkara Dam, Thiruvallam Parasurama Temple and Vizhinjam Rock Cut Cave Temple. Most of the people visiting the beach town are from Europe and Israel. The place is around 3 km away from Vizhinjam Port., which has a lot of Hindu temples, big churches and a mosque. The beaches are lined with different kind of shops and shacks, which provide different kinds of services, and resorts. These shops generally sell good quality souvenirs. These beaches are suitable for swimming and there are a whole lot of delicious cuisines that are served near the beaches. There are a lot of water sports that are also encouraged in the beaches like Surfing, Wooden Boat Ride, Motor Boat Ride, water diving, Parasailing, wind surfing and many more.

Kovalam refers to the groove of coconut trees and there is indeed a widespread of coconut trees near the beaches. So the refreshing coconut water is one of the main drinks available in the area. Alcohol is easily available in Kovalam. Being a coastal town, Kovalam offers a huge range of fish dishes. Fruit salads, chicken and Malayalee preparations are also common. Vegetarian south Indian dishes like Idli, Dosa, Vadas, Uttapam are also available. Crabs, Prawns, Lobsters are also common dishes of the town. Israeli and European foods are also available as Kovalam mainly attracts Israeli and European tourists.
There are a lot of shacks selling clothes, artefacts and delicious food. Artefacts from teakwood and rosewood, Tibetan handicrafts like miniature Buddhas, meditation bowls, Tibetan pots, scarves etc are also available. Spices like cinnamon, turmeric, cardamom, saffron, fenugreek, dry ginger and many more which has beautiful smell and are of good quality are available at Kovalam. There are shops selling Sarongs or Lungis, books, seashell jewelleries, which are extremely popular in any coastal town.
Day 1- After reaching Kovalam Airport, leave for Kovalam. Then visit the Lighthouse Beach and Hawah Beach and go for the water sports.
