Rankala Lake

#5 of 8 things to do in Kolhapur

Rankala Lake is a lake in Kolhapur in the state of Maharashtra. The lake is believed to be directly linked to a well in the Panhala Fort and is now generally visited by the residents of Kolhapur. There is a lakeside walk built by the Kolhapur Municipal Corporation. The lake was built by the Chhatrapatis of Kolhapur and is called Rankala because there is a temple of Rankabhairav in the centre. It is now converted into a garden where people can get street food and enjoy horse riding and boating.
