Panhala Fort is a fort located in Panhala, which is located at a distance of around 20 km from Kolhapur. The height of the fort is 2772 feet and was built in the year 1178 by Bhoja II. IThe fort, made of stone and lead, is now owned by the Government of India and certain places inside the fort are still intact. It is one of the largest forts in the Deccan and is built in the Bijapuri style. The Archaeological Survey of India considers several monuments inside the fort to be of great significance. The fort consists of fortifications and bastions, Andhar Bavadi, Kalavanticha Mahal, Ambarkhana, Dharma Kothi, Sajja Kothi, Teen Darwaza, Wagh Darwaza, Rajdindi Bastion, Temples and mausoleums.
