Ekambaranatha Temple

#3 of 8 things to do in Kanchipuram

Spanning over 25 acres, the temple is one of the largest in the country. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva in the form of Prithvi Linga. The main attraction of the temple is the thousand pillared hall which is an epitome of its imposing architecture which was built during Vijayanagar reign.

The temple houses what is believed to be a 3500-year-old mango tree which is said to produce 4 types of mangos from its 4 branches. Intriguing, isn't it! Ekambareswar literally translates to 'Lord of mango tree'.
