How to reach
Kalpetta is a humble town and but as it is situated in the nearby district of Wayanad in Kerala, commuting options are easily available. There is an airline facility and buses are also available. Though there is no directly connected rail line.
How to Reach by Flight
Calicut International airport is the nearest airport to the Kalpetta. The airport is located in Kozhikode and the distance between the airport and Kalpetta is around 48km. Though the city does not airport have its own one can have direct flights till Calicut airport and take a bus to Kalpetta.
How to Reach by Train
There are no railway stations for the quaint town of Kalpetta. Therefore, Kozhikode’s railway line serves as the nearest station at the proximity of 72 km from the town.
How to Reach by Bus
Transportation through the buses is one of the convenient and comfortable modes of transport. Bus lines are connected to the nearby main cities and there are also intercity bus services which can be availed by the local residents.
How to Reach by Road
Kalpetta is a beautiful town with an easily approachable route from the cities in the vicinity. This is an ideal location for a weekend and hence, visitors nearby choose to drive down to this town. Also, buses are quite a relief rather than taking a train.
How to travel within
You could either take a bus or hire a cab to roam in the town. Many people during good weather also prefer walking as well.
Kalpetta Itinerary
Kalpetta is a humble town but the district of Wayanad is quite big. Planning a trip to Kalpetta is a robust task to do. If you are on a short trip you could cover a few places but the actual points to visit are located nearby the two. Therefore at least 3 days are needed.
DAY 1: You could start your trip by a trek to Chembra peak and follow your day by the nearby points inclusive of Soochippara Falls (Sentinel Rock Waterfall) and Ananthanatha Swamy Jain Temple.
DAY 2: Keep your second day about all the important visits which could include nearby lakes, museums and most importantly the spice garden. Have a look at the plantations in Kalpetta giving your day a rejuvenating take.
Day 3: Last day is all about exploring the place. This could involve the shopping time, temples which could not be visited yesterday and some of the famous eatery joints of the town. Go downtown and relish the authentic flavours of South India.
