Umaid Bhawan Palace built by Maharaja Umaid Singh, over a million square feet of marble and a special type of sandstone (Chittar sandstone) was used to construct the palace, which is why, it is also referred to as Chittar Palace. With its balconies, gardens, courtyards and impressive rooms the palace symbolizes the best of Indo-Saracenic architecture. The palace is divided into three parts. One part functioning as a hotel, another other housing a museum and the third as acting as the royal residence. It is the only palace built in the 20th century. It is recognized as one of the most spectacular buildings and hence this needs a definite place in your itinerary.
