"Padharo Mhare Des!"
Jaipur Tourism
Jaipur is India's one of the most loved cities, experiencing heavy tourist footfall every single year. It is beautiful in every aspect and it won't be wrong to say that it is indeed India's cultural capital. It is truly royal in every sense. Soaked in tradition, it exhibits some great colours all over the city, be it the golden yellow forts, the very famous pink city, the blue water of the Jal Mahal, the green hills, the colourful dupattas and sarees of Bapu Bazaar, Jaipur has it all. What is truly amazing is that still being so traditional, it is no less than any metropolis!
It was founded on 18 November 1727 by Jai Singh IIthe ruler of Amer, and it is after him that the city is named. It was among the first planned cities of India. The best thing about Jaipur is that it is very very historic. When standing on the streets of Bapu Bazaar, inside the palaces or at any other spot, one can actually feel how culturally rich this city is. The place totally gives out the vibes of the heritage value it holds. If actually makes one feel proud to witness the extravaganza Jaipur is!
People from all over the world come to visit Jaipur to experience royalty at least once in their lives. For a common man, to stand where Akbar might have stood once is a feeling of pride and joy. To witness such great architecture like that of Hawa Mahal, leaves each and every spectator spell-bound. It gives an idea of how the royals used to live their lives, basically, a sneak-peek into their world.
One great time to visit Jaipur is during late January when the Jaipur Literature Fest is held. The Zee Jaipur literature fest is considered to be the 'greatest literary show on Earth'. It is conducted annually and is visited by people from all over the world.

A lot of people from all over the world choose Jaipur to get married and this itself explains a lot about the city's hospitality. Jaipur has been a tourist destination for very long now. Even in the ancient days, there were a lot of travellers who came to Jaipur from different parts of the world, some to explore it while some for trade purposes. Since then the people of Jaipur have developed a sense of amicability and are very very hospitable. It seems to be in their blood to take care of tourists. You will always find them having their hands folded quite a lot of times as a sign of respect to their guests. They actually consider their guests to be holding a stature of God, that is why there are very fewer cases of tourist harassment from Jaipur.
Not everybody is born with royal blood and in them and thus are not entitled to royal treatments. But it is everybody's dream to get to live a royal's life at least for a day in their lifetime. This is where the state of Rajasthan comes in picture. Yes, it does cost a lot at times to live like a royal, but it is absolutely worth it as it gives a wonderful experience. This is why a lot of Palaces have been converted into heritage hotels in Jaipur by the Royal families to let the common men have that experience once!
How to reach
Jaipur, being one of India's prime tourist destination, is very easy to reach from any part if the world. It is connected by railways, airplanes, buses and other roadway means.
How to Reach by Flight
Jaipur has an operational airport of its own- Jaipur International Airport. It has 67 operational flights daily, 8 being international. It is very well connected to almost all major Indian cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Ahmedabad and a lot more.
How to Reach by Train
Jaipur has two Railway stations- Jaipur railway station and Gandhinagar Railway station. It is connected to more or less all the state capitals.
How to Reach by Bus
Jaipur has a good network of National Highways and can be reached by Bus from New Delhi, Dehradun, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Lucknow to name a few.
How to Reach by Road
Jaipur is one-third of India's golden triangle. It also gets covered in the golden quadrilateral project. It can be very easily reached by roads from any part of the country.
How to travel within
Jaipur has auto-rickshaws, cabs, taxis, and buses to travel within the city. Some locations are very close to each other, so some tourists prefer to cover them on foot. There is also a metro service, but it runs on a short route, covering only some parts of the city.
Culture, food, life in Jaipur
When it comes to culture, no other place can beat Jaipur, and where there is culture, there has to be great food prepared and relished since ages. Jaipur is a heaven for fine dining. The most famous food of Jaipur is the amazing 'dal baati churma'. Along with it, there are many lassi walas having century-old shops and lassi from one of these is a must! A dessert named 'Ghewar' is very popular in the city and actually tastes heavenly. To taste the authentic Rajasthani food one can choose from the plethora of options available. One such famous shop is the 'Laxmi Mistann Bhandar', commonly known as LMB in the pink city. This shop is around 100 years old and has become a tourist location now! Chokhi Dhani is another great place to visit to experience, not just the food, but also true Rajasthani traditions.
The lifestyle in Jaipur is quite developed too. There are a lot of cafes, restaurants, clubs and bars apart from traditional eating places. The nightlife of Jaipur is quite happening too. There are numerous places where one can choose to stay. From 5-star hotels to amazing hostel chains like Zostel, Jaipur has it all.
Overall Jaipur is a great destination to spend your vacation at, but there are certain things one must keep in mind when travelling here. If travelling with a child who is a student, his/her ID can be carried, as almost at all the places owned by the Government, the tickets are heavily subsidised for students. Secondly, since it is a very famous and big tourist destination, some shops sell products at overpriced rates. It is better to negotiate and get prices checked by someone local like your hotel staff or driver etc. It is recommended to wear comfortable shoes as a lot of palaces are at hilltops, so wearing heels or uncomfortable footwear might cause some problems.
