Imphal is well connected to its neighboring states, especially to Guwahati in Assam and to Kolkata. The most convenient way to reach Imphal would be through air travel.
The Capital city of Manipur, Imphal houses an International Airport that is well connected with the major cities of Guwahati and Kolkata.
Travelling to Imphal by train is not a very good choice. The entire state is not well connected by trains. The nearest railway station is located in Kohima in the state of Nagaland and it is an 5 hour journey from Kohima to Imphal.
The city is well connected to Dimapur and Guwahati by buses that run on daily basis.
Imphal is well connected by road to all its surrounding states. Most travellers prefer to reach Imphal by taxi as the road offers some great locations for postcard perfect pictures.
Day 1:
Start your day with the local deity of Manipur in Moirang, and then visit the Kangla fort and Shaheed Minar. After a lunch with traditional Manipuri delicacies, Visit the National Park, Loktak lake and Sendra Island. Enjoy a serene sunset at the lake.
Day 2:
Visit Shree Govindaji Temple, Singda dam and Manipur State Museum. End the evening by shopping for some local crafts at the Ima market, where all the stalls are run by women.
