This legendary temple is really a legend,the temple totally beautiful as is surrounded by the beauty of Guwahati's nature. The temple is also known as the Kamrup- Kamakhya Temple, which was dedicated to the goddess  Kamakhya.The temple is located in Hills of Nilachal in western region of Guwahati.The temple looks really beautiful in the local festivals called as Ambubach Mela not only on Durga Pooja the temple attracts people from all over India and the temple nicely decorated by the locals. The count goes up to about 4000 visitors and devotees during this festival that lasts for 5 days. Kamakhya is the main temple which is a compound of 10 individual temples dedicated  to the Mahavidayas,Kali, Tara, Sodashi,Bhuvaneshwari,Bhairavi, Chinnamasta,Dhummavati,Bagalamukhi,Matangi and Kamalatmika. Among which  Matangi,Tripurasundari and Kamala reside inside the main temple and other 7 reside in individual temples. One must visit this rich in archaeological history temple to be thrilled by the beauty and tales of the City of Eastern light.
