Koti Tirtha

#7 of 8 things to do in Gokarna

One of the most sacred places to visit in Gokarna, Koti Tirtha is a popular man-made tank which is extremely sacred and is used for ritual bathing and immersing idols. The tank is surrounded by temples on all sides. Koti Tirtha is situated close to Mahabaleshwar Temple and is believed to contain ‘one crore (koti) sacred springs (tirtha)’. On the southern bank of the tank is the Varadeshvara linga, seated by Sage Agasthya. This sacred pond is used by devotees to take a bath and it offers a special spiritual ambience for all those who seek a religious engagement.
