 Also known as Main Beach or Indian Beach, at a distance of 800 meters from Gokarna Bus Station and 300 meters from Sri Mahabaleshwar Temple, this beach is the holiest of beaches in Gokarna. It is the closest beach to Gokarna town and is mainly used by Indian pilgrims to take a dip in the holy water before entering the temple. It is a long open beach known for surfingas there are not many water sports activities here. One enjoy the view of the rocky mountains on one side and Arabian Sea on the other, while reaching Gokarna Beach. The Gangavalli river meets the sea near the beach.Gokarna beach is famous for its sunset. This beach has few restaurants and shacks, tourists can get food and beverages.One can also walk to the top of hill towards southern side of the beach to get the panoramic view of the beach and Gokarna Town. There is also a  Lord Rama temple called Ramateertha on the hill towards northern side of the beach which is yet another sightseeing to visit. The best time to visit the beach is during the festival of Shivratri.
