Morjim Beach

#22 of 37 things to do in Goa

Located a little south of Ashwem beach this beach serves as a nesting habitat for Olive Ridley Turtles. Morjim is one of the three beachs that serves as nesting places in Goa, the other two being Agonda and Galgibaga in the South. As Olive Ridley Turtles are an endangered species, Morjim Beach is a protected area on which beach parties and shacks are banned. The ones that exist are further away from the sea and do not play loud music. There are a number of restaurants and shacks in the beach offering good food. One can indulge in some shopping on the beach street. Owing to the shallow depth, kite surfing makes for an exciting activity at the Morjim Beach. Some of the must-visit places in Morjim include Beach Street, Lazy Dog Cafe, La Plage, The Rice Mill etc. The beach is also locally known as 'Little Russia' as many Russians visit the area the place is full of Russian signboards and shops that sell Russian cuisine.
