Butterfly Beach

#23 of 37 things to do in Goa

Just 6 km north of Palolem beach lies the mesmerizing Butterfly beach. The beauty of this beach is that it is not as commercially dense as the other popular Goan beaches. There is no access to the beach by road since one has to pass through a thick forest. One can take a 2 hour trek through the forest if they love trekking. From the Palolem beach, one would need to take a short boat ride to reach the Butterfly beach. Interestingly, the beach is named so because the surrounding trees attract a wide variety of butterflies and this makes the beach even more beautiful. The sands here are perfectly white and the water translucent. The main attraction of the beach is its famous Dolphin play and the breathtaking sunset view. The sea urchins, sea cucumbers, footprints of crabs and goldfishes are equally attractive. The Canoe rides along the tiny water streams provides a thrilling ride. This beach is secluded and the best place to relax.
