Built in the year 1594, located in Old Goa in Bainguinim about 10 km away from Panjim, Basilica of Bom Jesus is the oldest church in Goa. The Basilica of Bom Jesus is dedicated to St. Francis Xavier as it enshrines the remains of saint Xavier.The body of the saint is perhaps the greatest attraction of the Basilica along with a gallery of Modern Art in the Basilica.The building is constructed in baroque style and is a part of UNESCO World Heritage Site (Churches & Convents of Goa).The museum on the first floor has paintings on the life of Saint Francis that can also be visited.The Basilica of Bom Jesus is over 408 years old and is open to the public every day.
