Gateway to Bhutan
Towards the south of the outer foothills of Himalayas and to the north of Brahmaputra River Basin lies the beautiful alluvial floodplains of Northeast India, the Dooars. Stretching over 350 kms from Teesta River in West Bengal to the Dhanshiri River in Assam, region forms a natural gateway to Bhutan. With innumerable rivers and streams surrounded by beautiful mountain ranges, the fertile plains around the foothills, Dooars is a mesmerizing destination every photographer, nature lover and adventure enthusiast.
Being one of the largest cities dotted with many cities and towns. The largest city in the whole region is Siliguri. The other major cities are Kokrajhar, Bongaigaon, Goalpara, Barpeta and Dhubri in Assam. Apart from the Tea gardens, this region is known for its picturesque dense forests around the countryside. A number of wild animals and endangered species make their habitats in these beautiful forests.

How to Reach by Flight
The nearest airport to Dooars is at Bagdogra. Flights from different places of India land at Bagdogra airport.
How to Reach by Train
There are very few trains that can directly reach you to Dooars from other places in India. One such popular train is Kanchankanya Express that leaves daily from Kolkata. It departs from Kolkata at night around 10:30 pm and reaches New Mal Junction next morning around 9:20 am.
How to Reach by Bus
There is a bus service between NJP station and Coochbehar that goes through various locations in Dooars.
How to Reach by Road
There are three routes to reach Dooars area from Bagdogra airport and NJP railway station. The one which takes the least time due to less traffic and is quite scenic passes through a place known as Gajoldoba. The second route is via Sevoke Road which too is popular and scenic. Both these routes meet at Odlabari and continue through Malbazar and Chalsa along National Highway #17.
How to travel within
While in Dooars, you can get private cars/cabs for point-to-point transfers between various places.
The local cuisine of the valley of Dooars varies from the local Assamese cuisine to the Bengal cuisine. Some of the restaurants are:

Reach Dooars by morning. After breakfast, start your day by visiting Chapramari National Park. After lunch, you can visit Gorumara National Park which is close to Chapramari.
After an early breakfast, start your day by visiting Sumsing and Suntalekhola. After lunch, visit Mahanada Wildlife Sanctuary. Head back from Dooars.
