#0 of 15 things to do in Diveagar

The Sundernarayan Temple is accepted to have been built in the thirteenth century amid the rule of King Shilahar. It is otherwise also called the Rupnarayan Temple and contains some excellent sculptures. Dedicated to Lord Vishnu, the main deity of the sanctuary has four hands alongside numerous adornments like Gada (Weapon), Padma (Lotus), Shank (Shell) and Chakra (Wheel). These accessories that enhance the hands of the idol are cut perfectly and reflect 24 unique appearances of Lord Vishnu when seen clockwise. According to history, endeavors of stealing the idol by the outsiders were ruined by a portion of the locals who fought them took it back to the temple.
