The Dhanushkodi Beach

#0 of 5 things to do in Dhanushkodi

The town of Dhanushkodi lies in the Sothern tip of Rameshwaram and is bordered by the Bay of Bengal and the Indian Ocean on both sides. The Aichal Munai is the merging point where both of these two seas met and can be seen from the Beachside. Due to the catastrophic storm of Rameshwaram, the town was destroyed and abandoned since 1964, living it to be a serene and quiet destination for peace lover. The Dhanushkodi Beach provides you with a 15 km long stretch of a sandy walk with few fisherman’s huts and small-time vendors scattered around this Ghost town. During winter one can sit on the beach for hours and get the mesmerizing view of the Ocean along with watching the migratory birds like the seagulls and flamingos.
